The butterfly effect

Several butterfly chrysalises hanging from the lid of a clear rearing cup on a wooden table

Welcome to the family Flappy Flaps

We have a new normal!

I kinda love it.

The dog is healthy and recovering well. We even avoided problems from his licking which is a feat. We are eating healthier. We are constantly outside and active. There is always something to be doing, but life is good.

We also have caterpillars now. For Christmas, the kiddo got a butterfly kit, and this month, we cashed in the voucher for the larvae. I am excited to see how it goes. And yes, I made sure the species we’re getting isn’t invasive to Wisconsin.

Goats continue to goat. They are wonderful trouble and a highlight to my week every week. It’s very cool to see the kid grow into the role, and people come by and visit and share in the growth that they’ve had.

I finally started a new manuscript after having finished writing in January and being stuck in edits for what felt like forever. I am excited to get that out by the end of this year. I think you’ll all feel for the story of this one. I can’t say it’s light-hearted, but it’s endearing. It’s another in the series I write with my kiddo, IYKYK, and being able to chat about plot in-between spoiling adorable goats is making for a truly excellent summer.

The kitchen is OFFICIALLY done. We are hosting dinners again, and the world feels like it has righted itself. I never want to do another renovation again, but am so glad my spouse and kid have the kitchen they want. Seeing them thrive is incredible, and it happened just in time for the kid to have an art show where all their pieces were edible! They even made an extra special dessert for our first dinner with our neighbors in the new kitchen. It’s been great to eat and to watch.

The month ends with Father’s day, so we spent a weekend celebrating my spouse and trying to do all his favorite things. Family time is a crucial part of who we are so ending the month on something so important to us is a good way to go out.

July is bringing all the travel, so we’ll enjoy this calm before the storm! Buckle up!
