Cha-cha-cha-changes

One Shift Can Change Everything

This month started with so many new things. Some good. Some not so good.

The good: The kiddo and I started our summer volunteering experience at our local zoo watching over the goat yard.

The not so good: My spouse had some less than stellar test results come back, and the dog had to go in for surgery.

Like most things, waiting is always the worst part. Waiting for doctors to give their input, waiting for tests to be scheduled, waiting for the results to come back. I am grateful that we have a plan, and my spouse was committed to his health enough to see results even within the few short weeks we’ve had to work with this information. Definitely a lot of change though for all of us here.

It’s funny the things we learn muscle memory for. Like, we know how to brush our teeth without thinking much, sure, but we also learn to reach for things, or look for things, that just become a habit. I am excited to take on this new challenge and not only evaluate my family’s learned behaviors but discover them in the first place. I love some good introspection, and we’re going to be up to our ears in it for some time.

This is true for our goat experience this month too. We already have our favorites, though we surprisingly have no least favorites as they’re all adorable, and taking on new experiences is thrilling. Not only do I get to meet people of all kinds, but I get to see my child meet people of all kinds too, and that is priceless. I love that we’re in a place to be able to try out this role and the life skills that this will create situations for for my sweet kiddo. We’re very lucky in this regard.

As I look to June, I look forward to heat and sunshine and summer. I look forward to the laid back way life feels when the world feels focused on fun. I hope to get in all the warm water possible from now until my birthday in September. Here’s hoping!
