Spring cleaning: Renovation edition
Everything must go and so it has
March was such a blur.
It was so hard to write this blog because I feel like the whole month was just going through the motions.
As much as we’ve been de-cluttering our minds and mental energy around here, March was the month of de-cluttering some physical aspects of life.
Not for spring cleaning, or some higher altruistic purpose, but because our kitchen renovation was FINALLY coming!! 🥳
After 16 months, we were finally going to see the results of all our planning and plotting! However, cleaning out our kitchen turned into quite the feat.
Did you know emptying out the most used room of the house was both incredibly challenging AND a total nuisance?
That was one of the many lessons I’ve learned during this process.
There’s also a special feeling when the big event is less than a week out and you’re like “OMG WE FORGOT TO FIGURE SOMETHING OUT FOR OUR REFRIGERATED FOOD!! WHAT’S THE PLAN?!” and your spouse just shrugs at you. We definitely panic-bought a mini fridge that night after some serious measuring of our garage that told us our current fridge could not just be transplanted there.
That was the first two weeks of March. Our third week was the actual renovation starting (very exciting!), and the last week was a beautiful trip to Saint Louis for Spring Break with some of our favorite people.
The kiddo got to touch their favorite animal and was on cloud nine, I loved all of our adventures, we both got some good friend-time in; the trip was a win. Many photos and memories were made and will be cherished as the kids age. Also, how are they not babies anymore? That will never stop shocking me.
Here’s hoping April comes with an almost complete kitchen and a bit less chaos!
I lowkey miss our state of normalcy already.
