I’m still dizzy.
June came in like a tornado.
We had to put a pet down at the end of May, so we were starting off the month with extreme emotions. Then, Immortal Eyes launched on Amazon on June 2nd, finally completing the trilogy.
Pre-orders were wrapped up. Promos ran for the first weekend. New sales began. The algorithm favored us for like a day, haha. It was a quick rush.
Post internet launch, I also had 3 launch events.
💚 Immortal Eyes debuted at Grayslake Author Fest. This was a new event for me, and only it’s second year running. The event was very well marketed and well run. The other authors were generally friendly, and I appreciated seeing some familiar faces in the crowd. The bummer was the weather. With storms the week before (we were literally flooded up here in Madison only a few days prior), not many travelers came into the fest. Which meant everyone was from the town, and numbers were small. They even ended up closing 30 minutes early. So. That’s okay.
💚 The second launch was at the tried and true KBF. You know how much I love Studio Moonfall, and I look forward to my Kenosha Book Festival days every year. This event is a solid 10/10. Higher if the weather is good. However, the weather was not good. 😅 All the apps promised sunny skies and a borderline chill in the air, and instead, we got lots of wet. The author that was next to me and I joked that the puddle was so large between us that it was our moat. I seriously considered trying to recruit rubber duckies to float in it. My only regrets of the event, though, was not pursuing my rubber ducky quest. We were only open 15 minutes, and someone came to my table immediately looking for book 3. That makes it all worth it. I actually sold pretty well despite the rain, and hey! Now I know how to make a display table that’s waterproof. Building new skills every day!
💚 The third event was at Kismet Books. If I love Studio Moonfall, I love love Kismet. The store is adorable, it smells AMAZING, and you can not get any better staff. They are patient and savvy and all things good. I adore them greatly. It is also local which is the best ever. I got to mingle with friends, they brought me boba tea and flowers and good company. It was amazing. Sales were fantastic, and it was inside, so no duckie moats needed to be sourced.
And that wrapped up the month! Phew!
Now we go onto July which is equal parts family vacation and co-leading a class. Excellent!
I hope you all are enjoying your summer, and I’ll be back soon. 💕
